Computer keeps waking up when not supposed to, help!

Xtreme Gamer

I will have my windows 8.1 pc on hibernate or sleep occasionally and after a while, it turns itself back on. How do I make it stay off in those 2 modes until I press the power button myself?

Thanks for any help!!!!

It is, but how does that affect it?

it just makes your pc wake when something is transmitted through the internet. ie: updates and stuff.

turn off and it will stop doing it

You probably need to check a few places.  First change the setting that allows your mouse to wake your computer.  I have had it where the mouse moves ever so slightly on its own and wakes the computer.  The other thing to do is check your scheduled tasks.  If your machine has defaults set to auto check for adobe, java, windows, ect. those can wake your machine as well.

Had the same problem, I went into device manager and checked what devices could wake your computer. For me, it was ethernet. Disabled that and it works fine now, googling it finds a good tutorial.

Good evening (morning?) This issue happened with my machine after I changed the motherboard.

Its not too hard to fix. Here is how I did it:

1. Open CMD (Start menu > cmd.exe > right click + open as administrator)

2. Type in: 'powercfg -devicequery wake_armed' (Without the quotation marks.)

3. You should see a list of devices, and I have shown this is in image 'first'. Yours may vary, and come up as something else.

4. Go to Device Manager (Start menu > device manager)

5. Find the device(s), which for me is the two HID Keyboards and HID-Compliant mice. (Shown in image 'second')

6. Right click > Properties > Power management >Un-check 'Allow this device to wake the computer' (Shown in image 'third')

Hibernate/Standby and your computer shouldn't start up again once you've put the machine to sleep.

Ok, fixed the issue. But now I cant use my Voicewake app to wake my pc. Is there any way I can have both?
