Looking for headphones

Gerrad
I'm looking for a new pair of headphones for my PC (gaming, music and such). I'm torn between 3 products in particular: Steelseries Siberia Elite, V-moda crossfade lp and Denon AH-D600. As for the V-moda i'll have to buy the boomPro microphone and concerning the Denon well... i don't really have a solution to how i'll attach an aftermarket microphone to it (any tips will be soooo useful). I shall mention that i can find all of them nearly at the same price, what should i do? I'm going toward the V-moda or the Denon since i can use them for traveling too (i can't picture myself using the Steelseries on a plane) but if the sound quality isn't SO different, the Siberia Elite offers the most complete package overall.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance and sorry for my poor english (i'm Italian).

Don't worry about your English, it is perfect. you can clip one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1411348628&sr=1-1&keywords=zalman+mic to the cord on the headphones for a mic or if you have room in your budget you could use one of these: http://www.modmic.com/collections/frontpage/products/modmic-4-0 which attaches to the side magnetically

Does the Zalman have a good quality compared to the modmic or even the boompro? I can't really decide between the Denon and the crossfade m100 (i ended up turning my budget a little higher...)

I don't haven't tried the zalman yet but from what I hear, its really good for the price. you probably could find some mic tests on youtube that should give you an idea.

A great pair of headphones is much better than most great headsets. So the usual's on this forum Audio Technica ATH-M40x http://amzn.to/1uTeoK7, Sennheiser 558 http://amzn.to/1r1vhT0 . Than strap on a Clip on zalman http://amzn.to/1C6rAO4 or modmic

Thank you very much! Money isn't really a problem, i can spend a little more... Why the ATH-M40X instead of the M50X (which seems to have a lot of positive reviews)? Also, the v-moda m-100 are not a good choice?

the M40x is recommended because of the better value. Strictly speaking the M50X is better but the price difference is more than the quality difference. I don't know anything about v-moda.

I've tried them both and the diffrence is very little. They are both monitors so sound is clear and sharp, but there is no "taste preference" as in beats are set heavy in bass. The m50x are just slightly better on the bass, and the sound is a bit warmer. Not worth extra $70 in my opinion. For the V-Moda, I have never heard of them, used them, or watched/read a review, so I am not eligible to answer that question. If you are willing to up the budget the Beyerdyanamic DT-990 are excellent for $200. Thought they are open so not good for personal use. Sound is pretty good on both options but these are definitely more comfortable. Though I wouldn't exactly wear them in public.

Edit- The DT990's use a lot more power to drive also.

M40x is essentially more or less the same as M50x, maybe with a little skimping on the materials. M40x got better price vs performance value. V-moda actually sounds good, but it's a bit of 'fashion headphone', meaning you pay a bit extra for the looks. If looks is somewhat important, then go with the v-moda.

What's your maximum price range? The best I've tried:

- Harman Kardon Soho, for portable uses (it's very small), $200

- Sony MDR-1R, for portable and home uses (over ear, but maybe on ear to people with big ears), closed back, $300

- Hifiman HE-400, for hom uses (too bulky to use outdoor), open back, $300, most probably needs an extra amp

I'd say my buget is around 250$, i prefer leather padding rather than cloth (cloth get dirty pretty easy) and i put comfort above portability!

Thanks for the tips tho, i'll be checking them around :)
