Upgrade help in prep for 980 gtx

Hey

I'm getting a 980 GTX for my gaming pc. But its still running an Asus Rampage III Extreme motherboard and that only have PCIe 2.0

I'm using a i7-950, 3200 MHz, Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 1600MHz 16GB (2x8Gb) and I have never overclocked. I also have a Soundblaster card.

So my question is: Should I uppgrade my motherboard and CPU? If I should, what can you guys recommend?

I like the extra USB slots and need 6x SATA ports (2 needs to be SATA6Gb/s)

It's mainly for gaming and I like a bit of premium =)

If you can get ~4.2GHz it'll do an OK job with the GTX980, but that'd definitely be the next upgrade! You can grab a 4690k and a msi gaming/gigabyte gaming board cheap if black and red is your thing

I have never done any overclocking and never really understood how to do it. Any good guides for dummies you culd recommend?

its a bit trickier on 1366 than the newer platforms, but its easyy enough if you follow this guide.
