Displayport 1.2 question

surjerrylee

Hey guys, I just bought a 2560x1080 monitor and I'd like to create a multi-display setup with two other 1080P monitors. I'm currently using a Sapphire 7970 Dual X OC edition gpu in crossfire with a Gigabyte R9 280X. Intially I tried using a club3d MST. When I use two or three monitors the resolution is wildly distorted. At least one monitor is locked at 640x480. Is this supposed to happen?

No, I doubt it is supposed to happen. I'm not exactly the best at multi-monitor support stuff, but have you tried messing around with them in AMD control panel. Also can you just not use the MST???

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

that MST hub only supports 2560 resolutions on a DP 1.2 link, and I suspect you have only a displayport 1.1 link, so to fit within the available bandwidth of 1.1 it is restricting your resolution of one of the panels.

after looking around it seems your cards are supposed to have a DP1.2 link but I still think the hub is only seeing 1.1 and is compensating. try reseating the hub, forcing displayport 1.2(no idea how to go about that) or using the displayports you have on the cards themselves( do you have to plug all into one GPU on AMD?)

also worth trying the adapter for every displayport port you have at your disposal. maybe it will be friendly with one and not another.

if it negotiates a 1.2 link with a port, you should get your full resolutions.

Hi sorry for late reply. I've been at work all day. When I don't use the MST it works fine, but I'm using three different outputs: Dual-link DVI, HDMI and Displayport which I believe to be causing immense screen tearing during Eyefinity gameplay. Also, yes they are plugged into the same GPU.

Everything is plugged into the 7970 which is the closest GPU to the CPU. I'm not overclocking my GPUs. Reseating the hub does nothing.
