Yin-Yang: Work in Progress

Hey guys,

 

So it has been an entire year-ish since I built my computer and I have finally come to the realization of how ugly my brown PCB was. So, this will be a long build log lasting a month or two longer as I get the money to buy new stuffs. Anywho, today, my friend and I decided that the only proper course of action is to plasti-dip my motherboard. I was initially afraid that it would explode and cause an avalanche but thankfully it turned out quite alright. 

 

Anyways, here are my specs:

Case: Corsair C70

Motherboard: AsRock Z77 Extreme4

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570k 

RAM: 8GB (2x 4GB) Corsair Vengeance 1600 MHz

PSU: Corsair AX750 

Storage: 120 GB Kingston HyperX 3k 1 TB WD Green 1 TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM

Cooling: Corsair H100i (Currently being RMA'd for loud obnoxiousness) 

Keyboard: Corsair K70

Mouse: Generic Microsoft Garbage

GPU: None (Yet) MSI Nvidia GTX 970 

 

Over the next few months I plan to change some things up. First and foremost I plan to get a graphics card, which is the most important thing. I am probably maybe sort of definitely getting the R9 290 because it is essentially porn in the form of plastic, metal, and silicon. I am thinking about getting the NZXT H440 case because it is the most beautiful case I have ever seen. I had a 1 TB WD Green drive that I used for storage, but that died on me. I am going to pick up a 1 TB WD Black.

It looks incredible in person. The pictures really don't do it enough justice. I can't wait to get my H100i in there, damn it will look sexy. As soon as I get a new case... mmmm!

Updated 10/25: Bought a new 1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM Drive to replace dead 1TB WD Green.

 

Updated 11/24: Added pics w/ new case and monitor. A new Corsair K70 arrived after I RMA'd my old one, and I like this black color scheme much better. Was fed up with the H100i noise so I got rid of it. Stock cooler is slightly better acoustically speaking.

 

Updated 12/16: New GPU purchased a few weeks ago, soon to be adding updated pics.

- Get Kraken X61

- New Monitor

- New Mouse

- New Desk

- New Microphone Arm

I use the Z87-A and even with 3 blue LED fans lighting up the entire case, I can't tell the difference. Although I have seen black PCB's look somewhat better because of its contrast.

Please don't get a WD black. Get a seagate barracuda and a separate SSD.

It will cost the same as a WD black but perform a ton better with the same capacity.

 

Also, the 290 is kinda obsolete with all the new stuff coming out now.

Do you mean get a Seagate HDD and an SSD for caching? Or...? Also, do you think AMD 300 series will be out soon? I've not been really keeping up to date with tech stuff since I built my PC back when Nvidia 700 series were just rumors.

i do the same exact thing with my c70 front io connectors routed it from the hole
