Some Moto 360's suffering from image retention

dizmo

Well, it looks like another blow to the Moto 360 after everyone found out it had a few year old processor in it.
Apparently users have been having problems with image retention. Not to be mistaken with burn in, the image does eventually disappear.

It's mostly the charging circle that decides to hang around after it's been on screen for a while that's causing the issue, and it stays visible under your current screen until it does decide to bugger off.

There's no easy fix to this, as it's just an inherent quality (or lack there of) of the display they used.

I'd personally find that absolutely unacceptable.

It hasn't affected a huge number of people, but it's still an unsightly issue.

I personally don't care as I have no interest in the watch, but I know there are people on here that were pondering it and this might have an affect on their choices.

I wouldn't even risk it, if I were in the market for one.

I imagine Motorola will simply put out an update that changes how long the charging status is displayed to help reduce the issue.

I'm quite disappointed as the screen isn't even a full circle and the processor is pretty old.

And now it's being discovered that there is a low quality screen in there.

I had high hopes for the Moto 360, I was REALLY wanting to get one, but now, not so much.

Also, they are just made by a random guy, not even a Microsoft worker, just some guy who wondered what a cool watch would look like

Ugh, was Snapdragon 210/400 and maybe a small low res IGZO display too much to ask for?

its a first gen devices, so its obvious it will have some quirks to it, though the ones the 360 have could have been avoided pretty easy :/

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

im certain they were rushing

an example of this is the OMAP Cpu they used

with OMAP its very fast to develop with because of how open it is

The more I hear about the Moto 360, the worse it sounds.

if I had been interested in it to begin with, I would be pissed at Motorola for going form over function.

The LG G Watch R sounds like it will be far superior in comparison.

Huh, if it didn't look so feminine I'd probably already have bought one, so this is unfortunate.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Right, so now I shall wait for revision 2, which I hope is a lot better but in the same size, as I don't like the big bezels of the lg g watch r.

I was considering a smartwatch, and this was the only one I really would have considered buying because it looks the most like a proper watch. However, I think I will wait for the market to mature a little before I dive in. I did the same with Smartphones and I am still only just considering my first tablet.

Man, I WISH this was good. Android Wear looks like a complete joke at the moment.

i wouldn't really say android wear is a joke, just the devices it runs on.

One in the same, really. If the package doesn't work, it's a crap product.

I really wonder how much testing of these devices gets done before they're released. Most videos of the 360 I've seen show blatant lag during general operation and the battery life pretty much unusably low for a watch.

Don't get me started on the Sony and Samsung products, they look/are terribad.

Considering the already bad battery life yes. Not that I'm excusing them, they certainly jumped into wearables without having the tech to back things up

I'd have to correct you there, mate. First gen pokemon had very few bug-types.

Everything said by me is my humble opinion and nothing more, unless otherwise stated.

Hopefully they learn that taking a little more time and producing a quality product and then releasing it is always the way to go.

These aren't video games...

The only thing I don't like about the G Watch is that it seems...less premium. Something about it just doesn't look right.

Everything else though, is top notch. It's almost a Moto G in a watch.
