New monitor

So im going to be buying a new graphics card The Nvidia GTX 970. i need a new monitor and im ona serious budget(-400CAD).

I realise in my price range im really limited to what i can get. Essentailly it throws 1440p out of the window because i dont want a korean monitor. so that brings me down to some sort of 1080p display. Being older technology i dont really want to pay an arm and a leg. What is the most cost effective 1080p gaming monitor?  Color is really important to me. I play lots of games not many shooters tho.

Contrary to popular belief, most "TN" panel monitors aren't that bad.

My old monitor was a TN from viewsonic and i hated it. befor that i had a 24 inch dell ultrasharp it was fantastic
