120Hz Monitors Rare?

Hey Guys,

 

In my research to educate myself further on different monitors, inputs, and refresh rates among other things I had trouble locating 120Hz Monitors. I mean whenever I am looking for monitors for reviews and such on Amazon/Newegg, it's either 60hz or 144hz. Are 120Hz hard to come by these days? Just curious. Or is it because 144Hz is starting to become the norm so people either want 60 or 144.

I think it is because a game is running it about 120FPS they will be tearing in the frame so it is better to use a 144Hz monitor so it doesn't tear. @striker1010

I'm not sure, but.... I'd guess that 120hz was the norm and companies tried one-upping eachother by going to 144hz panels so ow 144hz is just the standard since going from 120-->144hz looks like an upgrade while 144-->120 looks like a downgrade.

144Hz is what they're capable of, you can still run them at 120Hz if you want. I run mine at 120Hz because of LightBoost.

144Hz and 120Hz are pretty much the same.  There's not really a cost difference between the two anyway.
