Remove fan from heatsink

Alexkiss21

Any idea on how could I remove the fan from a Coolermaster X Dream i117?

I want to replace it with a new fan, beacuse the stock one (I mean the stock one on the CM fan, that purple or pink-ish one) is quite shit. It runs around 360RPM all the time, which bugs me because my CPU is getting warmer and warmer until my pc shuts down.

I have a 3 pin 6cm fan here, is there any way to secure it onto the heatsink?

There are 4 holes, are those meant to hold the fan? And if it is exactly as far away as the holes on the one I am willing to replace with, can I just use like bolts to secure it?

Looks like that fan just clips onto the heatsink (hence the plastic clips on the fan and the small dented areas on the heatsink).

If you can't get a fan that's exactly similar, you're going to have to find an alternative method like double sided tape or zipties. Won't look good but at least it'll work.

Looking at this picture, you can also leave part of the plastic frame with the clips attached and unscrew the top bit of the fan, maybe that'll make things easier:

That's not going to fit out-of-the-box and you'll have to get creative with it. To be perfectly honest though, I'd just get a new CPU cooler if I were you.
