A 4K display or a 1080p display and a 1080p TV?

Xan

I have a PC, a PS4, and a PS3 and i want to know if i would better buy a 4K display for everything or a 1080p TV for the Playstations and a 1080p display for my pc.

My choices are:

- 4K display: Samsung 28" 4K Ultra HD Monitor U28D590D (€550.00)

(I have a HD ready Tv but only has 1 HDMI so i'll just use it to watch movies of my pc)

or

- 1080p TV: Toshiba 32" LED-TV 32L4333DG (€300.00)

- 1080p display: BenQ 27" Monitor GW2760HE (€180.00)

4K is kinda pointless right now. Get a TV and a monitor (or a really nice 1440p display for the same money)

Asrock 890GX Extreme 3 - AMD Phenom II X4 955 @3.50GHz - Arctic Cooling Freezer XTREME Rev.2 - 4GB Kingston HyperX - AMD Radeon HD7850 - Kingston V300 240GB - Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB - Chieftec APS-750 - Cooler Master HAF912 PLUS

It depends on what you're most comfortable with, but from a purely technical point of view I'd go for the 4k display, but get an asus pb287q, not the samsung one.

I think 1080p monitor and a 1080p TV would be a better choice, since neither of the consoles are capable of playing games in 4k. Also are you sure your PC can handle 4k?

"Nope, said the engineer"

If you can utilize the 4k display, then why not.

AMD FX-8350 @4GHz / Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 / G.Skill RipJaw X 8GB 1866Mhz / Samsung 840 120GB SSD / Sapphire R9 270X Toxic / Corsair CX500 / Fractal Design Define R4 / Corsair K70 Cherry MX Blue / Xiaomi  Piston 2.0 / Steelseries Sensei / LG G3 32GB

i already can afford the GTX 970. wanted to buy a 780Ti, but waited a month bit and now I can use the extra money for a better screen.
