my current contract runs out in 4 days, i need a phone, do i get the moto g 2013 now or wait?

It'll be on telus by the end of the month and probably unlocked by the start of october. Maybe.

You don't have to get a phone as soon as your contract ends. You just change to a month to month payment.

I've been using my 2013 Moto G as my daily driver for 3-4 months, and I think it's brilliant. I'm willing to trade the micro SD slot of the new model for the smaller screen since I HATE 4+ inch screens but I need more power as well. The processor is the same so it's basically between deciding between a small screen or micro SD slot

End of September on telus only. They have an exclusive period on the new g and x in Canada. I'm sure other carriers will get it but probably not until next year. It sucks because you can't buy unlocked devices directly from Motorola like in the US
