Man, that is expensive, compared to the $550 MSRP.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

well... i don't think the cooler is gonna cut it, actually it looks like crap.
It's an 80 flagship card, everybody is gonna wanna overclock this thing and then they put this shit ass cooler on it?, you can get better temps with the reference card i think :/ hopefully there is descend ROG that looks better, otherwise i'm not going asus on this one.

I guess it's a good compromise between silence and performance

Australia tax, the price you pay for being Australian....

And also the lower australian dollar at the current time causing pricing to be higher, good for exporting of some goods as its more wanted then but bad for imports (think I got it the right way around).

Now this is what I'm looking for in a GPU cooler.

I have a GTX 760 right now with an EVGA ACX cooler and that thing is not quiet enough at idle.

I want a card that is SILENT when it isn't being taxed.

I was getting itchy and thinking about picking up a reference 980 but I'll hold off till some of the non reference coolers come out.

Well if you want silent, then I DEFINITELY Recommend the card I'm running at the moment, the MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB, Fans don't spin at all until you are under gaming loads.

This is coming from me, using an Air 540 as my case. Amazing card too, performs brilliantly.

Thanks for the suggestion, that is exactly what I'm looking for.

If they make a 980 version I'll snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Doesn't ASUS's 980 Strix do the same?

Hm...

I don't know about 'overclocking god,' as I think it's meant more for efficiency and quiet with that single 8 pin. The MSi version will be a better overclocker.

Yes, it Does. But i'm a fan ( No Pun Intended ) Of the MSI  Cooler, It suits my build perfectly, not to mention the MSI logo and dragon light-up :)

You're going to be waiting a while.. The DCU II Cooler is more than sufficient for all the new cards.

The only reason they would 'Update' their cooler, is to keep people like you happy.

They'll more than likely just update the aesthetics.

P.S I'm not having a dig at you, so don't read that wrong :)

The Strix card has BEASTLY heatpipes, but the Windforce card does have that extra fan, and it might be a bit longer in terms of heatsink length.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, just an aesthetic update on the cooler since the DCUII keeps up with the other ones like Twin Frozr, ACX, etc. But hey, ACX 1 was competent enough for this new cards and EVGA released ACX 2.
