Fairly good graphics cards for $300?

bajkapeter

Hi!

I've upgraded my budget gaming rig with an i5-4760 and 2x4GB of HyperX Fury RAM, but my old card (an R7-260) seems to be a huge bottleneck to the whole system, so I've been saving some cash for a new video card around $300

What would you guys recommend?

I'm absolutely open for any ideas, nvidia or AMD

I've been eyeballing an ASUS R9-270X 2GB, it seems like a nice bang for the buck, considering its specs and cooling

Sorry for the bad grammar, my english is not so good

Thanks,

Peter

If you can put in a few bucks more a 970... if not a 280x.

970 for 330-350 (dont remember)

if not 280x

Nvidia is to Dr Dre Beets as AMD is to KFC.

One makes you broke, the other you can get more of and have a midnight snack from the fridge when hungry again. Once you go Nvidia, you go broked, turn into an Elitist, or get the incorrect amount of VRAM.

I was only 9 years old. I loved Fifflaren so much, I had all the NiP merchandise and matches pirated. I prayed to Fifflaren every night before bed. Thanking him for the life I have been given. Fifflaren is love I say. Fifflaren is life. My dad hears and calls me a fuckhead. I knew he was just jelly of my passion for Fifflaren. I called him a Sw@yer. He hits me and sends me to go to sleep. I'm crying now, and my face hurts. I lay in bed and it's really cold. A warmth is moving towards me. I feel someone touching me. I feel someone touching me. It's Fifflaren. I am so happy. He whispers in my ear; "this is my pyjama". He grabs me with his powerful Swedish hands and puts me on my hands and knees. I'm ready. I spread my ass cheeks for Fifflaren. He penetrates my butt-hole. It hurts so much but I do it for Fifflaren. I can feel my butt tearing as my eyes start to water. I push against his force. I want to please Fifflaren. He roars a viking roar as he fills my butt with his love. My dad walks in. Fifflaren looks straight into his eyes and says; "He is a ninja now". Fifflaren is love, Fifflaren is life

$300 USD? Or AUD/CAD/other dollar currency?

Assuming USD, go for a new GTX 970 if you can, otherwise go for the GTX 770 or R9 280X

If the OP is considering a 270X within a $300 budget, he's probably not talking about USD. OP, location? If US, the 970 is obviously on everyone's mind as a very recent and impressive release, but will be a little more than $300.

But the 970 isnt on the market... they will be released in like, November? IDK, but the choice also depends on the games and resolution you play, go for a 280X as said

I live in Hungary, Europe, and taxing is ridiculous (27%), and 1 USD costs 230-240 hungarian Forint (HUF)

Long story short, everything is much more expensive here than in America

I know it's stupid to ask, but what about a GTX760 2GB OC from Gigabyte for 75.000F ($312)?

As a New Zealander I know the feeling. The Australians say they have it hard, but they're just pussies, don't worry about them.  :P

@bajkapeter It's a little hard to find a direct comparison of the GTX 760 and the R7 260, because there's a pretty big difference between them. I suppose that's a good thing though. The LinusTechTips R7 260X video is as close as I can find. It should give you an idea of the difference between the 760 and the R7 260X, so the difference between the 760 and the R7 260 should be a little more than that. (Benchmarks are towards the end of the video.)

Daemonowner: thanks, but I'm looking for the GTX 760 vs R9 270X

I have the R7 260(non-x) now, and it's just "meh", if you know what I mean :)

It can play Watch Dogs, Far Cry 3 or any other on high settings 1080p, but it seriously lacks fluidness and performance, so I have to play on low/med to actually immerse into the game without stuttering or lagging, or just simply low framerates
