Image in monitor too small

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Go to the Catalyst Control Center > My Digital Flat Panels > Properties to scale the image to the correct size.

Hello helpful people of the internet,

I just built my first PC and it works fine except the image displayed on the monitor is too small for the screen. My whole operating system and the like comes up on the screen, but it's sits in the centre and leaves about an inch of black space between it and the edge of the display. It's in the correct ratio and I've set the display and operating system to 1080p but it's just not taking up the full 24 inches of glory, how can I fix this?

(My pc runs windows 8.1 and I have an AMD graphics card)

Thanks

Which cable(s) do you have connected to the monitor?

When connected via HDMI, AMD cards assume it's a TV and underscan the image to compensate for TVs' overscanning by default.  Go into catalyst control center and look for scaling settings or something like that.  Look around until you find something that will let you set Underscan to 0%.

EDIT: Do what WoodenMarker said, damn ninja >.>
