Wanting to buy a mechanical keyboard. No Idea where to start apart from I want brown switchs :D

Hey, so as I said above, I'm lookng for a mechanical keyboard to replace my *cough* wireless *cough* membrane keyboard I've had for a while now. I've spoken to some friends and the general consensus seems to be to go for brown switches as I do play games a fair amount. I'm not a fan of 10 keyless keyboards, but if you can sell it to me who knows. Just really looking for some recommendations. My budget is, well, lets say my budget is sensible. I don't want to spending £200 on a keyboard.

So yer, love to hear what you guys have to say :D

(I'm also pretty new at being on forums and stuff, so just bare with me if I screw up and stuff)

I highly recommend the Logitech G710+ keyboard. Yes, it's orange, but everything else is positive about it, and you can mod/paint the orange bit if it really bothers you. I've loved it so much since I got it.

Im a big fan of the CM Storm Quickfire line of keybaords. I personally use the Quickfire TK and its fantastic. Great quality, available in Blues, Browns, and Reds, and is sort of but not really tenkeyless. But they offer multilpe keyboards in this line. check 'em out:

The important question is, do you have a shop near you where you can try them out? It's a very personal decision really, and different people favour different keyboards and switches.

Personally I use a Corsair K70 with brown switches and I like it a lot, but mechanical keyboards are a thing that you really need to try out. If your friends have mechs then have a go on their keyboards and see what you think. Just remember that any mech is going to feel ten times better than that membrane you've been using, so don't just fall in love with the first one you use.

Unfortunatly I'm not aware of anywhere were I can try these keyboards out. I can have a look. I do agree though, I really need to try the different switches out.

Where in the UK are you based? There are a good few places in the North West where you can try keyboards out and some in the Midlands.

If you haven't tried the various switches yourself I say dont limit yourself to browns its all personal preference, I use blues loath reds never touched browns.

You can order a sample set to try out various switches, I personally recommend the cheapest option I mentioned because they only have the main switches you find in most KBs so you wont get your heart set on a switch type thats extremely difficult to find.
