I had my 1 TB western digital drive die on me earlier this year, but i got it replaced easily enough. I also had the fan die on my old laptop, which was perfectly fine because I hated it and was glad to see it go.

I had my original EVGA GTX 660 die for some hardware related reason. It was easily replaced under warranty though.

Every topic I post in dies.

A couple of HDDs and a crap PSU that burnt the 4 pin cpu connector when it crapped itself. And I also bricked an HD4670 but got it replaced for free  :P

Feel like people who've had desktops for more than 5 years have all had a PSU die on them at some point.

Also, my dad ruined my Caviar Blue with a virus that managed to run the HDD at 100% for two days straight, right from when I turned it on each morning. I tried everything to save it but it just got burnt out.

DOA or died pre-maturely.

1x Logitech G35 Headset (1 week)

1x Cheap ass external drive enclosure (Died after maybe 2 hours of use)

1x Gigabyte motherboard (DOA It was so obvious it had previously been returned to the store faulty and put back on the shelf for re-sale....)

1x Dlink NIC (DOA)

5x Seagate HDDs (Purchased individually, some years apart. Different models / capacities / firmware. All met a premature end. I know at least one was due to buggy firmware, it died within 2 weeks and the firmware issue became well known. Due to this bad experience I haven't touched Seagate drives since.... Still very bitter. I now only use Western Digital, not a single failure, I do know people who have the exact opposite experience but until WD piss me off, they've got my money).

I'm guessing at least one or more of those Seagate drives that failed were of the notorious bad batch of 1.5TB HDD's a few years back...?

I've never once had a PC part fail on me. My family have bricked HDDs but that's just because they don't understand that viruses exist. I have had a super tiny PC that ran INCREDIBLY loud near the end of its use cycle.

It's something unpredictable. But in the end is right. I hope you've had the time of your life.

Hard drives, that's it; explicitly bought higher quality parts to avoid as many issues in the new few years as I could.

Nothing DOA but one of my HDD died almost immediately after my warranty expired and I also had a PSU die abut one year into it's lifespan (it was a cheap PSU form my first PC)

EDIT: Also a fan died on me once, but it was > 4 years old and it came with the case, so I can't complain.

Probably, not 100% sure of the capacity of that drive. But it was quite a few years ago now and It was a notorious issue, Seagate had a tool on their site that let you enter the serial number off a drive to see if it was affected. I remember checking a heap of drives, soon as I realised it was a known issue. Only 1 of mine was confirmed as affected by that particular bug tho.

My old computer had 2 parts that died on me. The Gpu which was a 8400GS, then the HDD died, which made the computer die as it wont boot, which lead me to build another pc for my bro, as this gaming pc is mine.  :P

How many computer programmers does it take to change a light bulb?

None, that's a hardware problem.  :D

Only my power supply. I try to buy my stuff physically. I don't like to shop online for computer parts. Delivery men are notorious for damaging things.
