Electronic Flight Bag.

The ASUS Memo Pads are usually pretty inexpensive.

Correct. Do they have a decent gps? As you know what it is you know that a good gps is needed for the geo referenced charts in garmin pilot.

I am not too sure about the GPS, but I would think most modern devices have good GPS.

I'll look in to it.

I am considering the Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Ipad Mini, memopad 7, and shield tablet.

How did you know what an EFB was?

Honestly, that magical rainbow called Google. That and I kind of assumed it had to do with flying as I know you do so.

It's so embarrassing that the children on this site can't keep their mouths shut and let people who enjoy Apple talk amongst themselves.  It really makes this site less desirable when other people aren't allowed to discuss something because these kids can't control their outbursts.

lel, okay

But seriously, all OP is talking about is the release of an OS. If you want to take from it that he is starting a fight, then that's your issue.

Are we reading the same OP? The whole thing is "lol suck it Android users". It's not even subtle

The only two stabs taken are one for Android and the other for carriers being carriers - the "update now instead of waiting" stab taken at the carriers, who are notorious for taking long to properly update devices (even those with varying OSes, but you seem to want to isolate it to Android) and the "a phone and tablet from 2011 are fully supported", which is valid considering the vast majority of Android phone manufacturers are not well-kept in terms of modern OS updates (but OnePlus, HTC and LG seem to be doing a good job at this lately.)

Neither of those points are related to the topic at hand. I have a lower tolerance for blatant fanboys than most I guess. I'll say that I overreacted, but I'm not removing him from my ignore list.

On a related note, and the real reason I came to the thread, how does this run on the 5S? I don't want to tell my brother to update if the performance loss is significant.

If you have a mac then ios 8 is pretty nice -- having all messages synced between a phone and a laptop as well as calls is very convenient.

Im wondering if this update will slow down older Apple devices just in time for the new Iphone to come out..... They have done it before and are no doubt doing it again now.

I see what you mean, and I don't disagree. And it shouldn't affect performance at all, if only very slightly.

You know, because other companies don't do it and because one of the articles that most people have seen of it based it's result off of Google search trends after major OS updates... It is like me complaining that a PC built for XP runs Vista or 7 slowly. It just doesn't meet up in terms of specs.

I wasn't having a go at Apple, I know that most phone company's do it (such as Samsung) I was just warning people if they did not already know. Also thanks to being on an Android device I put myself onto CM (no slowdowns for me   ) Not so easy to do with an Apple product though.

Yeah, and it feels so nice in the hand too.

I did drop it the other day (coincidentally the day after I broke my warranty by unlocking the bootloader and installing a custom ROM). It resulted in a cracked screen protector (I use Zagg Glass protectors), which I quickly drove to Best Buy and replaced in fear that I would break the device.
