But SSDs... :P

Lol, yeah :P

My next build (happening soon) won't have an SSD for a while. I am focusing it more on performance and fun than boot speed.

Why not both? :D Just have a small like 30 gig SSD for booting.

A mix of prioritizing money and being content with the speeds of my 1TB Barracuda. I will buy an SSD though, maybe when (read as "if") the Intel 730 gets cheap.

Yeah that'll happen in like 5 years. Old Intel stuff has only started dropping prices from a few months ago.

In that case, the 840 EVO or MX 100 may be in my sights.

Yeah, but they are still a bit expensive. The 850 Pro is a nice drive though, maybe I will have to get one of those instead.

-snips-

No point of picking 8 GB of RAM for content creation. Besides, tell me how many games run near 144 fps on Ultra?

Way to bottleneck the ever living bajeebus out of the 290x too. Great choice there.  <_<

Pentium K oc'd + 290x will out perform i3 + 290.

yes it's bottlenecked a bit but he can drop a new cpu in it later

lots of games can run 100+ fps on a 290x.

A bit? You're taking off 10-20% of the performance of the card?? A 290 and 290x perform really close in the first place, why not get a processor that doesn't chug while you're at it?

FPS numbers depends heavily on the games, I suppose OP could go 290 with i3, I personally would do the pentium and upgrad down the road.

The pentium doesn't help with rendering though, it'd be waaaay slower than the i3.

depending on the programs used, and how far OC he gets from the Pentium K

but no it probably wont in most scenarios
