It looked really awesome and promising until I reached the micro transaction pages... That's where my interest instantaneously abated and I closed the tab.

It only has cosmetic items for purchases.

I know but given that they have adopted this business model, which of course it makes perfect sense for them to do so, how long before the first "lock boxes" start to appear?

This game has been out for a while now and it's not likely for them to release that kind of stuff.

The same has been said of a great many before

At the risk of inciting a forum war; why should I go around and be made to feel inferior to others simply on account of the fact that they have items acquired through cash purchase and I may not. One cannot deny the psychological gravity of this situation. For instance who is most likely to be labelled when in a raid/group scenario? The one who looks different of course... Moreover not having the ability to acquire absolutely everything (at any point) hurts my OCD.

The arena was a very different place 20+ years ago, the emphasis was on community and content not all of this pay2play, pay2win, micro transaction, one time only items, time limited items, seasonal events and quest driven garbage.

All of that said, I do of course understand the logic behind these business/game models - I see the other side of the argument. Foolish is the one who chooses to hate a thing for which they have not invested the time to research...
