LAG in bf3 and other games on new pc build, only 3 months old

Jonathan Harder

So I get this annoying lag its just like split second jitters, in this video its insanely bad but in other games such as bf4 and even as old as half life 1 still does it but not as frequently.

Specs:

i5 4670k (Not overclocked)

Asrock B85m pro4

G Skill 8 gigs memory

GTX 670 (second hand but I don't think its the problem)

And heres where I think some of the trouble is: 2 second hand HDD's that have apparently been running for 4 years! Never buy second hand hard drives...

Could the hard drives possibly be the problem? This was not happening as frequently if at all when I first built the pc and have already reinstalled windows once because of an hdd stuff up.

I fail to see the lag that you are talking about :|

Watch the video and look for the yellow graph spikes then replay that part with the spike. It's quite noticeable.

Try reinstalling drivers cleanly

Look at the yellow graph and the fps in the top right of the video, it drops and the graph spikes, and its very noticible while playing.

Me too although he did record a video that is exploding every 5 seconds

@Jonathan Harder, can you get a video where there are not grenades going off every 12 seconds, as it just looks like screen shake from explosions in battlefield

I can see the spikes, what drivers are you using? perhaps try some older more stable drivers?

How do I find a chipset update?

Go to your motherboard product page and it should be there in the drivers section.

Just run and restart (Not needed but recommended)

If the FPS is only issue and there isn't really stuttering, input lag etc, then this could be just about gfx settings. As you may have noticed, fps dips whenever something heavier is happening. Lowering few settings makes fps stay more constant and dips don't matter that much.

All of the settings are already on completely low, and the yellow graph is the CPU

Have you unparked cores? And what temp are you getting?
