Folding power bills

Just started folding and  i was wondering if folding for 10 hours a month or so would drastically change the power bill. I dont really want my mum to get a nasty shock :P

You could calculate that for yourself though

Estimated usage in kilowatts * 10h = x kwh

Multiply the x kwh with the electricity cost per kwh which is very likely around 0.29 usd/kwh

(x = unknown)

(Power consumption of your system under folding load) * (time it is running), basically. Shouldn't be too hard.

Reread my other post, you can look most of this stuff up

An example:

My system could use an estimated 300 watts while folding. 300 watts = 0.3kilowatt

0.3kwatt * 10hours = 3kwh * 0.29usd/kwh = 0.87 dollars for 10 hours of folding

10 hours a month is nothing, absolutely nothing, it shouldn't be noticeable at all, even with an r9 290, say you are paying 0,5$ per kw/h (HUGE OVERSTIMATE) and you are using 500 watts (overestimate aswell) that is still just 0,25$ per hour, times 10 hours amounts to about 2,5$, although it's 100% guaranteed less than half of that.

i have very good electricity prices atm, running my 4p server and personal computer 24/7 for a year would cost me about 2200 nok or 340$.

Only ten hours a month won't be noticeable, most people here probably game that much. Personally I don't really care about power usage, I just pay the bill and move on with my life. Obviously this doesn't necessarily work if your parents are paying the bills. ;)
