cooler master v1000 cables

zikky

well just to get this out of the way... the psu was on sale and cheaper than the 850w one...

But the question is...  the pcie cables are splitttet so that you got two 6+2 pin conectors on the gpu side.... since this psu has quit a good amparage per pci chanell. vould i run grapichcards of one cable? I am waiting for the gtx 980 to be released.

You need to plug in as many as the GPU has on it

A modern gpu usualy uses two either 8 pin or 6 pin. my cable has two 6+2 pin on the same cable.... so technically i could power up a card with only one cable... But yeah. you didnt really answer my question

If the GPU has 2x6-pins you need to plug in 2x6-pins. You can not plug in just one.

it should be fine i run my r9 270x overclocked off a single cable with two plugs. some power supplys only have one cable with two plugs and they are perfectly happy running titans and 780tis

Yes you can just use that one cable and plug each connector into the gpu connectors.

Hi Zikky. The fine folks above have answered the question I'm interpreting from your original post.

Your question: Can I use a single PCIe power cable that has two 6+2pin connectors from my V1000 to power a single GPU that has one of the following power connection setups?:

  • Two 8pin connections
  • Two 6pin connections
  • One 8pin connection and one 6pin connection

Answer: Yes. The single cable is able to power a modern GPU with any of those connection requirements. That is why these PCIe cables are designed with the two 6+2pin heads.

If I misunderstood anything, please do explain further so we can be clear and help you answer your question :)

Yeah I believe spwath understood and answered, and CM Norumu answered it pretty thoroughly. The answer, as above, is yes. You can power a single high end card with one cable like the one you pictured above.
