how long does it take shaw internet to update?

so for years i had the 7.5Mbps internet package, although it was always like 28mbps. However my upload was .5mbps.... it was awful.... so i upgraded to the 25mbps plan (probably going to boost up to like 50mbps) but its a 2.5mbps upload, which i need.

 

anyways, i upgraded last night, my speeds still havent changed. my friend also upgraded and he said it had taken effect almost instantly. should i phone again?

well what modem do you have? when I upgraded to the 3 upload and 50 download they had to send me a new modem because my older one couldn't support it. they mailed me a new one

 

 

the old one I had that supported my 0.5 upload and 20ish down

If it does not work instantly that means there's a problem. Call them and tell them to fix it.

 

well what modem do you have? when I upgraded to the 3 upload and 50 download they had to send me a new modem because my older one couldn't support it.

I upgraded to 10 up and 50 down, I also had to get a special modem with 'dual telephone lines' to handle the 50 Mbps lol

I have that "old router" maybe I should upgrade... it's been 5 years... shit

less than I week if I remember correctly, maybe give them a call asking if you can pick it up

It's actually not because its 'dual telephone lines', who ever told you that misinformed you. The difference between the 2 modems is the first one is a DOCSIS 2.0 and the second one is a DOCSIS 3.0. DOCSIS 3.0 allows for channel bonding which is how Shaw is able to achieve high internet speeds.

 

I don't use shaw. I'm just giving my experience from upgrading...
