G502 is gr8 m8.

I have a Naga 2014 myself, but if I didn't like a lot of buttons I'd go for the G502.

Go for the Zowie EV1 Evo Black, Mionix Naos 7000, or the Steelseries Rival

stay away from laser sensor mice like everyone else is suggesting, they are garbage sensors.

So far, I've been hearing that the G502 has a flawless sensor, Slick tested the G402 for acceleration and I recall his recommending it as well.

My advice would be to think about these points:
1) Comfort in your hand - based on the grip you use when holding a mouse & the ease of access to the buttons on the mouse
2) What you use it for - for MMORPG's consider a mouse with more buttons, for professional play consider in-built features that aid in-game (i.e. Steel Series Sensei.)
3) After sales support - mice do break, pick one with a good warranty / support service.

I use the Steelseries Sensei and the Logitech G500. The in built features in the sensei are awesome for first person shooters. I used to play Battlefield professionally and the customisability and automatic sensitivity adjustments really were awesome. In addition you can change your mouse profiles using the screen on the bottom - great for LAN parties.

It does have a ridiculously high DPI of like 11,000 but any e-sports gamer will tell you, you should play with low sensitivity of like 300 to 600 anyway.

@Jacky

You're wasting your money if you spend more than 60-70 dollars on a mouse fyi. That being said, the best mice on the market right now are the Zowie FK1, Deathadder 2013, and/or the g400s if money is really tight.

The deathadder and zowie both have the best optical sensors on the market. The G502 is a bulky monstrosity with a sub par sensor in comparison to the zowie and DA 2013.

Don't pay more for gimmick weights and wild looks. If you're concerned about dpi; know this, most competitive gamers out there don't use anything above 1600 dpi, that's the absolute maximum. In reality, you're not going to need anything over 1600. If someone tells you otherwise, they're clueless.

As you can see from the above, you'll usually end up with about a dozen different options if you ask for recommendations on peripherals.

What constitutes a "good" mouse is basically whether it does it's job and is well made, which fits with pretty much all those mentioned on this thread. What constitutes whether a mouse is "good for me" is very different, and depends on what you're using it for, how you like a mouse to behave etc.

The G502 is the mouse I use, and I find it to be perfect for my feel and performance requirements, but your requirements may be different from mine.

If you can, then try them out. If you can't view them in person, then play a few games and perform some tasks on your computer and pay much more attention to your mouse usage than normal. Look at how you grip the mouse, what bothers you when you use it, how you feel about the 'click' and feel of the thing you currently have (is it too light/heavy, does it drag or glide too much, do the mouse keys feel mushy or too harsh etc etc). Then decide on what your requirements are and look for mice that meet them.

There are a lot of great mice on the market, and if you pick up a solid mouse you will probably be very happy with it - especially if upgrading from a basic mouse - so you're unlikely to regret your choice. In that sense, there's no real need to worry about making a bad choice. *cough* especially if you go for the G502 because it's clearly the best *cough*

*edit* Also leave some room in your budget for a good mouse mat to match your mouse, if you've not got one already. A bad mat can hamper your enjoyment, and the performance, of a premium mouse.

I have the Kone XTD, Logitech G700s, G502, and G402, I'd have no problem recommending any of them for gaming, as well as for any productivity usage. ;)
