Whats the furthest you've overclocked a cpu or gpu over its stock clock open thread

okay makes sense

When it gets a bit colder I will do 5GHz with HT, but right now it is too warm. I will definitely see how much higher I can go without HT. When I did this the first time, I was glad I hit 5, so I stopped there. Also, I am getting to the comfortable Voltage limit :P

5.1GHz 4770k

yea what are you cooling you current build with

you could do that while putting it next to an ac unit and a bunch of house fans blowing on it

Funnily enough... when my 2600K died,,I was PISSED! So...the next day I knew I had work to do so had to buy a quick replacement. I had $350 ish AUD

4690+Asus Z97-K <---for my future i7

Still using the same Hyper212 (Single fan Set @ 900rpm-1400rpm pulling upwards to another exhaust fan@ 1200-1600rpm, had the 2600K push push pull sidewards to the backpanel pull fan, lol push push pull pull)

Agreed I could do better, 4690 has never been over 70*c once, and without gaming, not even 61*c. When I get the i7 I'll be getting AIO cooling.

(Tried the Portable AC unit once with a tube and ductape, had a smaller room at the time, unfeasible for 24/7 use)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I took an Intel C2D E4500 from 2.2 to 3.1GHz (I only had control over FSB - crappy boards). My 8600GS was a beast overclocker too - overclocked the memory by like 400Mhz and core by 200Mhz (don't know the exact numbers)

I was able to push my Nvidia 9600GT from 675 MHz up to 811 MHz stable. Thing ran at over 100 degrees at that clock though, even after cleaning it and with new thermal paste. When gaming I ran it at 767 MHz. Topped out at about 90 degrees with 100% fan speed then.

Also yes, the 9600GT has a 650 stock clock, mine was from BFG so it was factory OC'd.

I can be a cynical a**hole at times. I apologize if I cause any offence at those time. I also occasionally have issues communicating my point. Extreme introversion + Photographic memory + Some other things.

Desktop: i5-4670k - 8gb 1600MHz - MSI 7850

Laptop: i7-4810QM - GTX 870m - 8gb RAM

Gigabyte Windforce HD 7950 3GB. (RIP as of today :( )

Stock clocks:

Core - 1000mhz

Memory - 1250mhz

Best (stable) OC achieved:

Core - 1150mhz (+150)

Memory - 1450mhz (+200)

Pretty decent OC, IMO, considering this is (was) a voltage locked GPU. Due to recent instability I've had to reduce it to 1100 core and 1400 memory, but alas, it finally had enough. What a great card though. Gave my friend's GTX 680 a run for it's money. :D

Right now my 3570K is running at 4.4Ghz and my GTX 460 is overclocked from 725Mhz to 900Mhz so I got a pretty good OC on both.

I tried getting my 3930k to 4.5 ghz but it crashes every 5 minutes if I keep it there, it isnt a temperature problem because I have cooled with a Corsair H60 I know that seems underpowered for such a big processor but it works, I dont know if 65 degrees Celcius while gaming is healthy for this processor

I took my 2500k from 3.3 to 5.0 on air but it was too hot to safely run at that speed :( my 770 is clocked really high stock anyways so I haven't gotten more than 50mhz core and 300mhz mem out of it even with unlocking the voltage :(

My 7870 ghz is a 1450mhz core clock on air and runs cool. Also i just ajusted limit power slider, didnt even have to change the voltage.

Got a 4670K to 5.2 GHz for a total of a 1.8 GHz overclock on water once but only for about 10 minutes. 1.5 volts LOL (the chip didnt die. it was sort of an accident when the motherboard it was glitching a bit for some reason)

(never doing that again but its cool lol)

I Have a 3570K @ 4.3 GHz which is a 900 MHz overclock from stock (1.208Volts i believe.. good chip, but my cooler stinks :( )

an AMD Radeon 7770 @ 1275 MHz (from 1000 stock) 275 MHz gain (no voltage change)

an AMD Radeon 6950 @ 980 MHz with 1.26 volts for a 180 MHz gain (i remember this lol, was trying so hard to hit 1000 when i was bored one day its a twin frozr 3 btw, still have it and use it :D)

oh an an FX-8320 @ 4.7 GHz for a gain of 1.2 GHz @ (i dont remember the voltage, but i know this was a really good chip)

also another FX-8320 @ 4.4 GHz (again, I dont remember the voltage but all i know is that it was more than the one above)

No failures yet! and I haven't come across a terrible chip yet (like one that doesnt overclock at all lol)

I did overclock memory on the 6950 but it was a pitiful 25 MHz gain. i know moar voltage and memory dont mix so i dont get greedy there

The 7770 memory got a up a good bit, i just cant remember how much
