[US] 4KHD TV - Amazon

Ace Light

I am really not all that knowledgeable of how TV's work but I just know that there are other TVs in 4k that cost around 2000 dollars...

There are many other 4K TV's and I'm not that knowledgeable on the TV's. But some of the main problems (this TV has been posted a lot since release and gets the same response) that people have around here is that it is limited to 30 hz. These TV's "boast" 120hz, but what they don't make extremely clear is that is only 1080p resolution - therefore it's almost bait and switch for those who don't know a lot or don't pay attention to all the little details. My belief is that some of the newer and more expensive 4K TV's actually have 60hz (maybe 120hz?) at 4K resolutions.

It's a TV, not a monitor. TV and film generally runs sub-30hz.

Why does that matter in the slightest?

You said sub 30hz??? Nice Tv's run at 120... good ones run at 60... no freaking nice tvv runs at sub 30hz..... I was saying what crappy tv do you have out of sarcasm.... read between the lines.....

why is 60hz+ even necessary for a "nice" television? sarcasm wont even help justify any answer to that question ..

Because it's better?

30hz is obsolete.

Why do we need Progressive scan screens......

you sir, need to be educated.

Sports and live news programs are shot at 29.97fps. Films and tv shows are shot at 23.976fps. TELEVISION screens do not "need" more than 30hz since the frame rate for most TELEVISION content do not go past that...  We arent talking about computer monitors here.

FACT:  Higher refresh rates result in smoother image, less motion blur and ghosting.

Why would you even get a 4K TV if 99.9999% of TV is in 1080p or lower? 4K TV's are silly right now

If it wasn't 30hz I'd get the 39" variant as a monitor :D I might get this one as a tv, thanks for the tip-off!

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Ignoring the refresh rate, Seiki stuff isn't the best quality.

Yea, but it is 4k. Imagine how upset the Sony and Samsung kids will get.

Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. tvs with high refresh rates are good because they use frame interpolation to generate more frames, so it would suck for games but for video its nice as it makes action appear smoother

How about a box office hit, especially among us nerds: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Next, as everyone has pointed out - have you tried watching fast paced movies/shows on a 60hz TV (never mind a 30hz)? Motion blur is hugely distracting (at least for me with 20/20 sight). Now using your own thoughts, name all the Blu Ray/DVD movies (not including documentaries or nature movies) that you have that are 4K.

Just because it isn't typical now, when it is still fairly new, doesn't mean it won't be. Most of the people here are enthusiasts and we want the best of all worlds if possible, thus why we see the complaint about 30hz 4k. I personally can't attest to 4k video and 30hz and how it looks, I was simply posting what most people say and my understanding of it.
