Something Fried

RayDontPlay

Hello, I have a very simple question i cant seem to find anywhere, Can you fry a motherboard by drawing to much power from a 4 pin connector? I tried hooking up a fan controller and 2 fans to a 4 pin on the motherboard and it smoked and the controller didnt light up and now im not getting a boot screen. Heres my system.

Mobo: GA-MA78LM-S2
Processor: AMD Phenom™ II X4 955 Processor, ~3.2GHz
Heat Sink: Zalman CNPS5X
Memory: 4096MB of Crucible 800mhz RAM
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560
Power supply: 750 Watt Thermaltake semi modular
Storage: 250Gb WD caviar

It might have been your psu over voltaging itself.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

I can vouch.

Either your PSU could be dead or the card reader shorted your board to death.

Ok, now the psu fan is spinning up again, and so is the cpu fan without the card reader. what was smoking? was i taking to much voltage from the 4 pin or what? im going to hook up a monitor and see what happens.

Did you try removing the psu and jumping it with just a fan or somting hooked up. Best thing to do in these situations is to start isolating parts and testing them. If the psu works then its probably the mobo.

Iv tried different power supply, and iv tried a different CPU, im still not getting a boot screen. My Gpu fans spin up and so does my heat sink, Would they spin up if my motherboard was fried?
