Jerakl

Same prize, same performance, lower power consumption. Maxwell is one big disappointment! Only benefit is the prize drop on the 780.

And mobile GPUs get a big boost.

Sorry it wasn't my best writing. You had the more sound logic over the guy you replied to.

Yeah, for mobile it's been great so far. But that's not really my focus. :D

who cares...

From the specs on that site, shouldn't the gtx 780 (theoretically at least) outperform the gtx 980?

More like prepare your wallets for 980ti or maybe 990ti which might be a titan z rebrand.

Forgive Nvidia for doing the intelligent thing and going after power efficiency since that's the weakness of their Teslas against the Xeon Phi, and power=heat=3x the power to cool the server block, which is expensive.

Nvidia has its back against the wall since APUs are taking over mobile gaming and AMD's can do hybrid XFire. ARM laptops are not gonna happen, and Intel is not going to give them usage rights for x86. They need to find ways to compete in new markets, and desktops aren't worth it. Maybe Apple will use quadros in the new Mac Pro.

Look at the clock rate and the stream processor count per core. It has mathematical equivalence to 2716 Kepler cores. Faster than 780, slower than 780TI.

Typical nvidia rip-off. Charge an x10 chip price for a x04 chip.

So in a year's time they'll release a cut down g210 and a little while later a full g210 chip like they did in the previous generations?

The 980 is the 780 Ti launch price and the 780 Ti's current price.

Not according to Wiki. The 780ti launched at $699, the 780 was launched at $649, and the 980 is going to be launched at $599.

If that's the case, I'm not sure why people are complaining about either of the GPU's prices....

Thats why I am confused as fuck. People wanted a $399 GPU that can handle 4k. Some expectations were way out of whack.

Ok, so a bulgarian online pc store has listed a 980 from gigabyte.  GB N980D5-4GD-B is the nomenclature. No price tag yet.

If this is real it does. But that price.. Nah.

Bye LTT. That was an interesting journey on this board. At least here you see how not to do it. I'll go shaking my head about this place.

I might by a second 780 and step down my resolution to 480p

Or go triple 1080p. Iunno if I would still get good frames though. Maybe 2 6GB 780s?

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
