I'm pretty sure the 7950s would be faster, they are basically slightly underclocked R9 280s.

For crossfire the reference design actually isn't that bad because it throws air out of the case instead of around itself.

First time I heard a postive comment on reference design!

So I should 100% go with 2 : 7950's ?

I'd say so, unless you don't trust the retailer or something. Make sure you have a crossfire bridge. Reference designs get a lot of hate recently because of how the R9 290(x) coolers performed, which wasn't very well. In general they aren't terrible.

Well the 7950's are going to be used while the 270X is going to be new.

Can you return the cards if they don't work properly? If so go for it.

Well the Seller says he doesn't  accept returns.

But its covered with Ebay and Paypal.

He also has 100% feedback.

I see you have a 7970. Get a couple 7950s and crossfire them with the 7970.

Regardless, get the 7950s
