Need help buying a new laptop.

Fonseca

Hey guys,

So, i need to buy a new laptop. I'll be using it for school, and maybe some gaming.

I'd like it to be in the 800€ (724 CAD, 618 USD) range. I'd also like the screen to be bigger than 13''.

If any sacrifices need to be made, i'd say sacrifice gaming.

In the meantime i'm talking to a friend of a friend tha is selling a Asus k56c ultraslim 15" used with a 240GB SSD and 1 year left on the warranty for  700€.

Any thoughts are most welcome,

I don't know man, but since I got the macbook air I refuse to use any other platform on my laptop tbh. give it a try at a local store maybe.

If one does not fail at times, then one has not challenged himself.

I'm enjoying my Asus Transformer Flip notebook a lot. It's very similar to the notebook your friend is selling which I actually like a lot but not sure if that's a good price for it. Do note that if you go this route, you won't be able to run that many games on it. If you want to be gaming, The Lenovos that were mentioned are great. Also the Asus N550JK is good too. Both those options though are probably over your budget. I don't know of many good gaming laptops near $600.

Yeah I'm running a Macbook Pro retina and it is amazeballs. You can run games like CS GO fine...

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

If you're looking for a computer mainly for schoolwork, you can spend $400 USD easily and get  something that will do everything you need it to, hell, a chromebook would do and those start at $200 USD. Now if you want light gaming as well, you don't need much, at least not in my experience. I have a Dell Inspiron, old as hell, but it runs WoW just fine and plays castle crashers and most RTS games perfectly. It may not be ultra settings, but if you want ultra settings, just build a PC haha. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834314574 this wouldn't be a bad choice in my opinion.
