R9 295X2 add an extra fan for push/pull configuration

davidst99

Hi, I have a XFX 295X2 GPU that has a liquid radiator and a 120mm fan. I also have a 4k monitor. I read some articles that you can overclock the card by about 10%. If I do this would you recommend getting a second fan for a push/pull method for the radiator? Thanks.

I would overclock it first and then if you feel you need it, then buy one.

Compatible with Windows 95

Depends on the current temps whether or not OP should overclock.

Adding a second fan probably won't change temperatures at all. Just set the fan to pull, which is arguably better than push, and keep an eye on temps

Adding a 2nd fan will improve temperatures by as much as 4C at max speeds, depending on the fan.

The best thing about going push/pull is that you can run the fans at lower speeds, and get the same performance.  Doing this will decrease the amount of noise that your system produces.

I have a G10 + X31 cooling my GTX 780.  I have 2 fans in push/pull and I don't need to run them faster than 60% because it never exceeds 49C.  If I were to use just one fan, I would probably have to run it at 100%, which is loud.

Thanks for the advice. I switch my R9 295x2 fan to pull from push.
