Swapping out a HD 7850 for a R9 270

D'Raizerio

So, I've got this build I made on a budget a year and a half ago, so, I decided to get a newer GPU. From what I know, the R9 270 is roughly equivalent to the HD 7870 Ghz and when overclocked, can be better.

Since I was offered to swap them out by one of my family members since they are in a dire need of a new GPU, I was wondering if it's worth to get a R9 270 and give them the HD 7850 or just to save money and buy them something less expensive?

I'd get the card for quite a bit less than the original price tag. In Serbia, it'd normally be around 216$, but there is a deal where I can snatch if for around 175$.

They occasionally game (Skyrim, Far Cry and the likes) on a 1680x1050 (He currently has a 6670 which is barely keeping up on such a screen.)

Also, the current build I have is an
i3-3220
8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 Mhz CL9
Asus P8B75-m LX Plus
600W LC Power

If you think it's worth the pricetag, I would get it, the gtx 270 is a beast

Edit: the 270 is a beast....sorry....

The performance jump from a HD 7850 to a R9-270 isn't much.

In my opinion, if you are giving a family member a helping hand, I don't see the harm.

Keep your 7850 and give them something like R7 260x or save more money and get R9 290 and then give them your 7850 .. there is no reason upgrading from 7850 to R9 270 to be honest.

Don't know weather trolling or just a typo.

I was considering this but then I checked and the R7 260x was only 30 bucks less than a R9 270. The prices over here are slightly weird.

Edit: While the R9 290 does sound pretty good, it's WAY out of my range considering that I'm on a fairly tight budget. I can't even squeeze out a 280 since it's like 100 dollars on top of a R9 270

I was planning to overclock it and thus bring the performance level a little bit higher (Or quite a bit, depends on how much I can draw out of it)
