But in general, Valve is starting to become EA and inverse-EA at the same time. Neither of them are a good thing since you don't want to be compared with EA at any time.

Download Windows 7, 8, or 8.1

Create bootable USB

In BIOS select USB device as boot priority

 

Begin windows setup

Create new HDD partition, using small SSD? create new Windows install on HDD

At boot selection screen select the newest install

Install all drivers and install steam

 

Does it work? Y --> You have a software issue, revert your original install to as close to stock as possible. Does that work? Y --> Congrats

                      N --> undefined                                                                                                                                                  N --> Move to new Windows install

You got any antivirus/firewall running, other than the basic Windows firewall? Research points to McAfee being the issue. If so, disable it and try installing the games again.

DON"T YOU DARE SAY MCAFEE, Malware bytes all the way, but sorry to hear that. Did you restore local system files or whatever that is called? Google serach how to fix error 53 on google?
