Phone for Student

labrockstar

Hello Forum and internet strangers,

I am a student and I do not have a phone (I have a temporary $10 that I never use). My mother wants me to buy one but I need help choosing between the OnePlus One or the iPhone 6 Plus or should I wait for 2015 for the new Snapdragon 810 SoC?

I would never recommend an apple product to anyone after my experiences with it.  But apparently the phone that Linus has is very good.

Instead of the Nexus 5 I'm thinking about a OnePlus One which is better than it

I've always considered 'flagship' phones to not be worth their price and they are certainly not what comes to mind at the mention of 'student phones'.

If I'd have to buy a phone today, (being a student) I'd go for a midrange LG or Samsung with a big, swappable battery. Something like http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g2_mini-6077.php

Yeah, but do you need top of the line specs? What are you going to do with the thing, run Matlab on it? Mine Bitcoins?

It being expensive, makes it more likely to get stolen.

Yes I know more $$$$ = higher chance of getting stolen. I'm sorry if I didn't state that I need top of the line specs.

I need top of the line specs.

If you'd say what you need them for, people would have an easier time recommending something.

Must of misread the thread then, I thought they wanted to release a $100 android (nexus) phone in the US.
