diamond, don't trust it. Companies like powercolor have some really shit coolers but some decent ones like the devil II and turbo duo. Other than that everything else is usually ok.

Edit: I just realized you said gpu not gpu cooler, trust all gpu manufacturers of which there are three that I know of NVIDIA, AMD, and matrox <--spelling?

Are you talking about Nvidia vs AMD  or board partners like  evga, gigabyte, msi, sapphire, etc...?

Either way I would strongly recommend you base yourself on reviews and benchmarks to make sure you get what's right for your needs, don't just buy based on brands.

If you are talking about gpu manufacturers I would only recommend AMD and Nvidia, but i have never owned or used a machine with anything else.

Ok, are you talking about who makes the chips or who put the coolers and all on them?

I just plain don't trust VisionTek, PNY and HIS are sketchy too... Never used a Palit but only heard bad things...XFX or EVGA are pretty hit or miss, Zotac and Gigabyte are consistantly alright pretty good just nothing really premium, Asus makes great Nvidia cards but on AMD they get kinda lazy, Sapphires cool, MSIs pretty nice,  Powercolor is acceptable, CLUB3D is pretty good but rare... Never dealt with or known someone to use a Galaxy...  And I personally just avoid using reference cards from either Nvidia or AMD (unless watercooling) simply cause it's called a reference for many reasons A: Coolings not the best... B: Clocks aren't the best... C:Noise isn't the best... D: sometimes they can cost MORE than good non references E: aesthetics

I have a palit card and have no complaints, it is relatively quiet and stays cool...don't really know what to say. I don't like the short PCB though. I do think they make some of the best looking coolers.

Although I have never owned a product from them, and I'm sure they are fine, the name Sparkle has brought a few people to tears with laughter when I tell them they are a real computer parts company.

I would agree with this. Some people let a one off issue throw their confidence in a brand, but personally I haven't had any huge issues with any specific brand.

Don't judge a product purely on brand, Corsair have made bad PSUs and Diamond have made good graphics cards for example, always look at lots of reviews.

HIS' coolers are actually pretty good, better than the twin frozr in fact. HIS is a popular brand in asia and their cards usually last a long time. Powercolor cards are also underrated. Have you seen the 290x PCS+? THAT thing is a fucking beast

NVIDIA sucks

Fanboy much? Be helpful to the OP and don't mislead them.

For coolers, I find HIS and Diamond to be some of the worst, and EVGA to be all around the best. ASUS' DirectCU II, Gigabyte's Windforce, and Sapphire's Tri-X are all pretty good as well, but the DCUII is better on the Nvidia side of things. I haven't really looked into other coolers, since these ones are ones I've had experience with or have looked at for whatever reason.

My 6570 lasted a grand total of 3 months and always ran way too hot (happily hitting 65C or more in even the some of the easier games like Spiral Knights). Had the blower-style cooler. My friend's OEM 6570 in his HP ran cooler (single slot POS).

I obviously have their newer card the 280x iceq x2. They kinda stopped messing around and started working seriously on the HD 7000 series. Never heard any complaints yet (I'm guessing you're from the US, HIS is not that popular there)

For Nvidia I think EVGA and Gigabyte are the best, MSI and Asus come in second.

For AMD I like Sapphire, MSI, and the Powercolor PCS+ specifically(not sure about their other cards).

Between AMD and Nvidia I prefer to give my money to AMD., although I wouldnt totally rule out Nvidia.

Its not that I don't trust Nvidia or think their cards are inferior. I just think they are overrated and charge way more than their cards are worth, and I don't like some of their business practices. I also find Nvidia fanboys way more annoying and generally less informed than AMD fanboys. I feel like Nvidia is in danger of developing an undeserved monopoly and in the long run PC gamers will suffer for it, so I try to stick with AMD, which isn't hard lately because they kill Nvidia in the price performance department anyway.
