EK Water Blocks General Support Thread

O3GLhd8.png?1

Hello everyone,

My name is Derick, I am EK Waterblock's  forum rep.  I want to open this thread for people to ask any questions they may have about EK products.

Before asking questions please consult our website dedicated to users who have any compatibility questions.
www.coolingconfigurator.com

Our YouTube channel also has many How-To Videos that can help with most questions users have.
EKWB YouTube Channel

This website will assist with nearly any question you may have concerning compatibility with any of our products including but not limited to CPU, GPU, and chipset blocks. Any other questions that can't be solved by the CC can be asked here.

Of course besides compatibility questions I am here to answer any other questions related to EKWB products. I will also assist with any questions pertaining to how to setup and configure your water cooling loop. Our video on YouTube detailing how to install one of our EK-Kit's will help with most of those questions I hope.

If you have a product that isn't working correctly and you would like to RMA, I cannot help you with this. Our support team would love to assist you with this problem and you can open a ticket at www.ekwb.com/support . Please do not PM or post here any problems such as "My radiator came damaged, fix this". You will receive much faster help by contacting our support directly.

I hope this thread is ok with Staff, I know some forums are picky because they think support threads are seen as advertising. If any staff has any problems feel free to PM me. I just want it to be clear that the purpose of this thread is not advertisement. We understand that water cooling can be confusing to some and we want to be able to provide support to as many people as possible, that is the purpose of this thread. Thank you for reading and lets all have a good time :)

Also; feel free to post images of your rigs featuring EKWB products here!

Only feedback I have is with the supplied radiator screws. The diameter of the screw head is far too small, requiring use of washers, not supplied or changing screws completely.

Can you include decent screws for otherwise brilliant gear?

Good to see another company reaching out to the community.

+1 rep!

Who was the first?

@EK_Derick, i hope @Linus or the forum mods adds another forum category in water cooling for water cooling companies who are willing to have a support presence on forums other than the company's official support.

DO you see a performance difference between all copper water blocks and an Acetal or Nickle variation? GPU or CPU.

Thanks

Do you all plan on doing any MOSFET / Chipset blocks in copper?  I noticed all of the Z97 ASUS chipsets are nickel.

I'd like to See most mobos supported instead of just ASUS.

It's probably quite an ordeal to make the blocks for those, they probably have to take into consideration  A) who will buy this part? B ) how many people will purchase it? C) how many people will take the initiative to watercool this motherboard?

If the % of market that the board will participate in is small, and even less are assumed to watercool the board, then it's probably pointless spending R&D money etc to make a product that maybe 5 people will buy.

Wow, sorry guys. I got really distracted and been super busy with 980 launch.

It's quite a process indeed, a process that most people don't really think about when asking for blocks.

Only feedback I have is with the supplied radiator screws. The diameter of the screw head is far too small, requiring use of washers, not supplied or changing screws completely.

Hmm I'll mention it to the product manager.

@EK_Derick

Thanks

They're all the same. Just aesthetics.

Asus R5E might get copper, but don't quote me on that later. Probably not much copper for Z97 due to popular demand.

Tell AMD to release a new chipset for FX lol. We considered doing one for the APU ROG board, but it's not a huge priority.

@EK_Derick

When will you release the blocks for 980s?

The following question is off-topic but here goes: Is there any advantage of using non-reference PCB cards instead of reference ones when watercooling? Thanks! :) Good to have you here.

Are you trolling or is this real? We released 980 blocks last night.

http://www.ekwb.com/news/524/19/EK-unveils-revolutionary-new-NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-980-water-blocks/

Pre-order available, ship next week.

The only advantage I'd say is that generally non-ref PCBs can OC higher, which water cooling further enhances. However that doesn't always hold true if you get lucky and get a nice reference PCB. So overall, not really. Unless you want a specific looking block, like the Galaxy 780 HOF series.

I don't think I've even seen the DC2 GTX 980? So probably not. Gigabyte and EVGA non-ref are coming first.

@EK_Derick So do reference 980 blocks work on reference 970 cards?

No. The GTX970 doesn't have a reference PCB. Some are 680 PCBs, some 760s or something, it's all wacko. Keep an eye out on www.coolingconfigurator.com as we add more 970s and are able to verify what PCB they're using.
