Hey asus how about a new design?

brownninja97

Why cant asus make a new card design like a lot of the other companies do, far enough with the reference but at least change the design of it they make a lot of money and they dont change the appearance at all. The ares and the matrix and that baby card shows they have the ability but they dont change.

A gtx 580

A gtx 680

A gtx 780

Three generations of using the same appearance i dont understand why people dont get mad at this, yes there is the performance difference but at try to show that this card is next. Im just thinking of an ebay post, someone selling a gtx 580 but saying its a gtx 780, it would be way to easy to trick someone especially if they dont have much computer knowledge and just looked on a forum where someone said get a asus card.

I think the DCUII Cooler design is pretty nice, very simple and stylish.

Here's a pic since you weren't able to post it.

The same thing could be said for MSI's Twin Frozr cooler. There's only minor changes done in looks over the years.

Like my stand on Windows 8, why fix something that isn't broken.

It's kind of like Apple, they don't really change the overall design that often because when you find something that works, you stay with it. It represents their brand and they want people to know them by just briefly seeing their product.

I could say  the same about a signature 2 gpu by EVGA but its nice to create a new look for the next gen if you saw a card then you can mostly recognize its generation. Whereas if its a asus card it could be 6850 to a 6970, a 7790 to a 7970, a gtx 550 to 580, a gtx 650 to a 680 and now it could be a gtx 770 or a 780. The same look for everything which could be about 30-40 gpus there, at least a different between amd and nvidia.

But at least they change something, asus get the gpu, do some fancy stuff to the pcb and shove a direct cu2 on it and then sell at higher prices when they clearly put less effort in(not counting the rogs they put effort into those)

and it just works well

They can keep the design in just saying maybe they should make a new scheme such as four strips, at an angle anything so that people can recognize the next generation or the previous one. In my books EA has a one up over asus.

You don see any red though because 90% is black and the strips are on the under side of it. Maybe if they added some red strips on the side it would be better or if they used the matrix cooler more. The cooler look just seems outdated.

Looking at their sales, there doesn't seem to be enough of a demand for a redesign of the looks that would warrant them to change it.

If they wanted it to go with the rog scheme then why isnt their hints of red on the side as 99% of the time you look at your gpu will be from the side of your case. The msi 660 ti twin frozr has black and red and is way more noticeable, its cheaper, cooler, in my opinion looks better, shorter, dunno about noise and their triple slot designs dont overheat.

The top 3 sellers of graphics cards (Palit/Gainward/Galaxy, Zotac, ASUS) have mostly kept the look of their aftermarket coolers. So why spend the money to redesign it when people are still buying? There's no justification for it.

How much would it cost to change the direction of three strips. Anyways those three companies are a lot smaller then Asus and their sales have dropped.

So minor changes is still considered a good change? Just even a slight change in design means redesigning the machinery that makes them.

Yes, they are smaller than ASUS but sales numbers don't lie. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Graphics-Cards-Business-Market-gpu,22112.html
