Testing your Wireless Connection

I don't know about you, but everything that I own seems to have wifi connection issues. The router is the one that verizon gives you with FiOS. To test it, open a command promt, admin or nawt it doesn't matter. type

 

ping -t 192.168.1.1

 

this will ping it forever or until you tell it to stop. you're looking for it to say "Request timed out"

It's also important to ping your ISP:

 

ping -t verizon.net

 

and if you feel like it, google (or another major company with good connextion):

 

ping -t google.com

 

you should see that the connection with the router times out sometimes.

you can just type ping and it will give you a list of arguments. :) I will tell you how to do packet sizes once I get home from school :)
