Well-built laptop for MMO's

Grimezy

Hi,

I've got a bit of an odd request. I'd like a portable gaming laptop to use for games like Guild Wars 2 as I move around quite a bit during the week. I have a sufficient rig at home but there's obviously times when I can't access this.

I've been looking at all sorts of things like the MSI range, the ROG models, Gigabyte, etc etc and there hasn't been many standout ones apart from the Auros X3 which sounds perfect in quality and size but way too overkill for my actual needs. I'm not bothered about running the latest games on max settings, I just want to be able to play GW2 comfortably and also my indie collection for when I want to kill some time.

I guess this would put my budget between £500-£800. The majority of ones I've been looking at have been £1000-£1500 so it would be great if you guys could help me out. I really don't think I require an i7 which most gaming laptops seem to go for, I think an i3 would be satisfactory. I was also thinking an 850/860 would be fine and 4-8gb ram. I'm not too bothered about storage as I don't plan to store a huge amount on it so having an SSD could be an option.

What I'm really looking for is something that feels solid with a 13-14 inch decent quality screen. I can spec a laptop in budget on sites like PC Specialist but the build quality of their chassis's don't give me confidence and I don't want something big and bulky, I want a really slick, thin, solid laptop; something close to the feel of a Macbook or Razer Blade, etc.

Do you guys know of anything out there in my price range? Any help would be much appreciated! I know I'm being a bit picky but I can't help it. I'm not looking to replace my rig, I just want something I can stick in a bag and carry around with me. I normally won't have a desk available to use so a bulky 17 inch'er just wouldn't work for me.

Thanks in advance :)

Most MMO's don't require the latest graphics, or the best laptop. I assume you've played some that are just like this, Guild wars 2 is not very graphics heavy but I understand where you're coming from, you probably won't just be playing this so, i've done some research for you, it seems the best option, knowing from experience would probably be the lenovo y410... On average around $800, another option could be the Acer Aspire V7-482PG-6629

Hope I helped :)

A good processor, 8 GB of RAM, and a good GPU are needed.
