Asus 6850 Crossfire!

Jumper118

Ok. this is my first time i've ever used crossfire and so far its great. the cards have worked well together and scaled well on most benchmarks that i've tried. It is as smooth as sli and its just like having 1 very fast gpu, they look epic as well.  :)

If you haven't already seen the single card review then it is here, where i look at the asus cooler more and the single card performance. http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/210212-asus-hd-6850-how-much-gpu-you-can-get-for-%C2%A335/

3D Mark 13. the scaling is good. i've had to lower the oc a bit from the single card review, but i did manage to keep it within 20mhz

Valley 1.0 was next up. the gpu's scaled well in extreme HD, but it didn't use the second card at all in basic so i haven't bothered including the score. comparing it to my mates 7870@1254/1385 they are very very fast as that got just over 1500

gallery_16915_587_95056.jpg

Heaven 4.0 ran well and i managed to keep them 5mhz higher on the core than i did in 3d mark 13

3D Mark Vantage

gallery_16915_587_236783.jpg

And finally i did Tomb Raider again at the same settings as my single card review. Again scaling is over 90% which is good in a real world game.

i'm pretty impressed with these cards and for £70 they are hard to beat. i think my next set of cards will have to have more vram to prevent the low minimum fps that i'm getting, but other than that they have worked fine.  B)  The top card has got upto 64c today and the bottom one is keeping at cool 60c so they are well under safe limits.

i don't like playing games. i know for a fact that cf doesn't work with the forest, but thats in alpha. i've got crysis 2, metro 2033, bioshock 1&2 and dirt. metro and crysis have good scaling, but i can't run them at max settings and i dont even need both cards to max out bioshock and dirt.

i have watchdogs as well but i don't like that. i barely get 30fps with my 7970 :/

i don't mine is an overclocking pc. :P hence the lack of cable management. i swop stuff in and out of my pc's so much that i only cable manage stuff if its going to be in there a while. its also pretty good at folding as well depending on what gpu i have in it.

I have the same issue with a 7990. Less than 30fps most of the time and 17fps when driving fast. So sad.

Strangely close? as in like.... in my town? haha

I know not everyone uses their PCs to play games.... but 99% of people with Crossfire or SLI GPUs plays games, (though some programs can use GPU acceleration, I know)

i live in leeds. i  only got the other one to see the performance of it. i never had any intention to play a game on either of them. :P. when i do play a game i usually use my 7970 or 670 depending on which drivers the game runs best on. i do folding as well and i do a lot of overclocking. i've overclocked a lot of cpu's and with x99 being very expensive, i thought i'd get some gpu's to overclock to see how much  i  can get out of them. i've been impressed. with these. i think i might go for a pair of 6950's next. :)

you're not missing out on much overclocking haswell. its mostly quite boring. i still would never run anything at stock though if it can be overclocked. stock speeds and auto voltage are terribly inefficient.

I know but its not like I have been lacking any performance especially in gaming, and I like that it runs at 40 degrees

Maybe when I am rendering more it might be noticeable :P you will have to help me
