iSwitched to Firefox!

NeatSquidYT

For a start, I don't mean you @FireFox ;)

So, I've been a fanboy of chrome since 2010-2011, and always scoffed at the idea of using Firefox. It never really took my fancy so to speak. But, after seeing all of the Firefox users on this forum, I gave it a shot.

Thank God I did. Its design is beautiful, sleek and original and its amount of GOOD and actually well functioning plugins was a nice change from Chrome's plugins. They never really did it for me.

So, should you give it a try? HELL YES. Even small things like download lists are well implemented into the browser, and is a nice change to the browser we all know and most love.

Which plugins have I acquired? Well, so far I picked up AdBlock Plus (I don't watch YouTube videos on my laptop, so stop trying to stop me from using it) and an AMAZING plugin entitled "The Fox, Only Better" which makes the experience with Firefox a lot cleaner feeling. It minimises the address and bookmark bar when you're not using it, exposing only the top menu and the tabs bar. This works very well, even on my crappy laptop (specs in sig).

So, I'd rate Firefox a 10/10 for its uniqueness, yet familiarness and its beautiful all round feel, which makes it a brilliant and welcome change from Chrome. This will now be my everyday browser.

Thanks for reading this review :D

I LOVE firefox, but it's so easy to login to your google account on ANY pc and have all your bookmarks and everything you need right there, it really is the only reason i use Chrome, oh, and also managing tabs, i'm so used to chrome, i'd have to get used to firefox again :P (talking about dragging one tab from one screen to the other between 2 different windows)

I havn't used anything but Firefox in so many years.... and I also don't get the hate.. it performs VISUALLY (meaning I don't notice any diff) the same to me as it did years ago...

So what gives?

Besides IE.. for those 5s it's in use so I can Ninite DL Firefox.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I've been using both on and off because I use my laptop daily and the all mighty dual core APU can't handle chrome.

I'd say I like both equally. Though the download bar of chrome can go to hell and the scrolling in waterfox can also go.

I also use Opera for sites that won't work with cookies blocked on FF.

I love the download organisation in Firefox. It's why I've taken to it :P

I am so used to chrome. It has all my bookmarks, and it so easy to log in to Gmail and other services. EDIT: I mean on other PC's. All my bookmarks just follow me to the PC I log onto.

I don't see the point, I am far too used to chrome to benefit from any possible improvements.

They're not as different, visually, as they used to be, Firefox and Chrome. I switched from Chromium to Firefox a few years back because it was closer to the native look and feel of my Linux system, whereas Chrome uses its own hardcoded style. Also it just plain works. Not sure how the situation is on Linux but it's been a very reliable browser for me. Shame it doesn't fully support HTML5 HD video playback in YouTube though. As soon as that gets implemented I can ditch Flash. Mostly.

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

I switched to Chrome like 3-4 years ago as I was having a problem with Firefox, but can't remember what.

Now I've got an android phone and having a shared browser history and the ability to pull up tabs of my PC/Phone is so helpful.

If there was some way to maintain that functionality, I'd probably try swapping over, Chrome is such a memory hog.

I do have a portable version of Firefox, just for certain plugins really.

Welcome to the Firefox club(do we have one?)

I'd definitly suggest to take a look at the top add-ons you can install in Firefox, especially AdBlock.

They make browsing so much more pleasant.

i have used chrome since day one, when it was on beta and youtube didn't even work on it, and when sites tried to put all the fucking tool bars on IE and FF, seriously thank god chrome made that shit stop, also on you on that time i do agree it was the best browser on the planet, fast and responsive, but now is just a mess, after the ram problem it does have a few issues to, its not longer the faster, which was the main reason i switched to it,

i switched to firefox last month and i couldn't be happier, but i'm not using the vanilla version, if you are on a 64bit PC, then waterfox is a much better option its the same thing just recompiled to 64bit, no changes where made to the source code at all, just a few that fixes the issue with memory leaks, but is the same and all extensions work on it, and flash, java and silverlight work on 64bit with it, which is better,

my only problem with firefox is that youtube sucks on it, half the times the video lags and for some bloody reason the good youtube extensions are only in chromium browsers, which is why i have to rely on opera for it

this is one of the greatest thing that has happened to me recently, and it happened on this forum, those involved have my eternal gratitude http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/198850-update-alex-got-his-moto-g2-lets-get-a-moto-g-for-alexgoeshigh-unofficial/ :')

i use to have the second best link in the world here, but it died ;_; its a 404 now but it will always be here
