LG 34UC87 - another LG 34" 21:9 curve monitor with a different monitor stand

Last month LG revealed their 34" 21:9 curve monitor, the 34UC97.( http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/199581-lg-to-unveil-curved-34-219-monitor-34uc97-new-4k-and-gaming-monitor-updated-wpics-and-specs/ ) Although the monitor is awesome, the stand has limited adjustability, which may not be good for some people. In IFA 2014 LG revealed that they have another model of this 34" curve monitor, called 34UC87, which address this adjustability issue.

In terms of specs, the 34UC87 is pretty much the same as the 34UC97. They both have the same panel, input ports and speakers. The difference between these two models is on the monitor stand. Instead of the V-shape design on the 34UC97, the 34UC87 has a square-shape-design monitor stand. According to VR-Zone Chinese's article, you can adjust the monitor height and viewing angle on this 34UC87.

No words on pricing and availability for the 34UC87.

If only these things weren't that limited by the market. I could see a lot of potential in 21:9 monitors. Not just FOVs in FPS games but the cockpit view in some racing games - I never liked that view since you really can't see well even in 16:9, it doesn't have that feel to it.

I hope they launch cheaper models too to stimulate the market :)

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

You can act like someone you're not, but that won't change who you are.

Finished Crysis without a discrete GPU,15 FPS average, and a lot of heart

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

This looks really nice. Not as aesthetically "designer" like the 97, but that is a good thing, as the black works better with most setups. And the stand looks very nice. But like the 97, this model will not have Adaptive Sync. Instant disqualification for me. Such a shame.

Monitor manufacturers need to stop putting shit stands on displays over $500. They should all have height adjust, tilt, swivel and pivot at that price point looks be dammed. The whole glossy bezel thing also needs to die

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

@Linus, review, now!

It's the same monitor as the 34UC97 he already reviewed. Just different plastic bezel and foot.

What we need, is for this monitor to cost half of what the 97 does, and then have Adaptive Sync, and I want it!
