[US] Pentium G3258 - $47

Faceman

This is through Fry's.com.  I saw the deal on their web-blast, it says free shipping in the web blast, but when you go to the link, it says shipping info unavailable, so you might have to call.  You could always pick up in-store if you live near a Fry's, or try and price match at Staples.com or NCIXUS.com

No this CPU isnt for gaming, buying a 2 core cpu and expecting to game on it (well any games that have been released in the last 3 years) is a bad idea.

Once again, Totally-A-Child proving he doesn't do research.

Depending on the game, this processor can handle it very well.  The vast majority of games are only 2-4 threads, and when this thing is overclocked, it performs just as well as an i5/i7.

The exceptions being, BF4, Crysis3, and Watch Dogs.

BF4 is still very playable online 64 players(40-50fps) when the processor is overclocked, but it won't perform as well as an i5 or i7

Can we implement a talking ban on people who spread misinformation on this forum?  Its hard enough as it is helping people who have their own misconceptions, but when you add in other forum members who spout BS, it makes the job even more difficult.

Considering I have near no performance detriment from switching my 5.2GHz 2500K to a 4.5GHz G3258, I am going to call complete bullshit.

Sure you could game on this CPU if you want but it isnt going to be optimal. On any games that use more than two threads (most modern games not all of them but most) your going to have a major bottlenecking problem. That isnt misinformation. Reccomending this chip for gaming to anyone besides a person who only plays single-dual core games is stupid.

EDIT: And calling me Totally-a-child is pretty immature of you. Being's how you flamed me on purpose last night just to start a fight.

Sandy Bridge, it's not incredibly suprising.

I love Fry's Electronics simply because it's the only store in my area that actually sells computer hardware. Other than them it's just best buy, and they only have overpriced gt 610s. Because of that I end up buying almost all of my pc hardware online.

Go look into benchmarks... Also reply to people so they see it.

This is a really nice gaming CPU since most games aren't optimized for above 2 cores anyways.

For right now the cpu is fine. But in a year or sooner games will be using more cores! Games like battlefield already are! If you want to play things a decent fps in the next year or so the fx-6300 is the minimum you can go. If your just a casual guy that is fine with lower fps then have at this CPU as it is a great price/performance cpu.
