Lock your folder.

Go to solution Solved by MangoJuiceStain,

You can put everything in an encrypted rar or zip file, not sure about a folder though.

Hi,

..I wonder if there is a "very secure" way to lock/protect/encrypt with a password your folder which contains photos, videos, notes, contacts, etc.

You could use vhd's as folders and use bitlocker

put it on a USB drive and parachute it.

nobody is going to find that unless you meet tyrone in the slammer.

(but seriously an external well kept and hidden copy is probably most secure)

Error: 410

Well you could use Truecrypt, but that makes a file at what ever size you want, and makes a virtual volume of it.

Also yey 100 posts :D

TrueCrypt was taken down by mysterious reasons. http://truecrypt.sourceforge.net/ NSA much?

7zip and WinRar offers an password feature. While I prefer 7zip as it can handle more filetypes as an extra.

Bye LTT. That was an interesting journey on this board. At least here you see how not to do it. I'll go shaking my head about this place.

He could just download the last version then. So far, there have been no security issues found. I won't let the government tell me what encryption I can and can't use either way.

The last version can only decrypt. Encryption was removed from it

Use Folder Lock. Very easy to use and will lock folders with a password. I think it requires money, but I'm sure there are ways around that...

The program locks the files under  a master password which needs to be entered when starting up the program.

The files are hidden from view and search when they are locked as well.

Your best bet would be to just put everything into an archive and password protect it. Or if you're like me, get a program called AxCrypt. Its pretty nice. You can either type a password or use a keyfile to unlock the data. I use a keyfile on a flash drive to unlock the files i need. Works well for me and i dont have to remember a password or worry about forgetting a password. First time i used a rar archive to password protect something i forgot the password for it, luckily there was nothing important in that file.. just some random stuff i didn't want my room mate at the time copying and looking at. (That was a problem.. he liked to get on my pc the second i left the room and just copy stuff. I caught on and when he left for the day I formatted his whole computer and his flash drives which he thought he had hidden. And told him next time I catch him copying my data hes gunna find his cpu in the microwave).

I am whatever I am.
