Silicon Studio Shows Off New Game Engine “Mizuchi”

.:MARK:.

Back in April, we informed you about Silicon Studio’s new game engine for PC and current-gen consoles. Today, the team behind this new engine – called Mizuchi – has released a new trailer that can be viewed below. Although we still don’t know whether Silicon Studio’s next title will hit the PC, we do have to say that the tech demo for its engine looks gorgeous. So go ahead and take a look at it!

Wow, that's nice. At some points it looked like a live film.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

wow, i am amazed by the quality and how realistic it sometimes looked, altough the fact that the video is only 720p max kinda bothers me.

a few thing that i noticed:

-light flare when the robot turned at the start. amazing for a realistic effect.

-background objects looked less realistic to me and a sort of flat until there was focus on them.

-I wonder how shadows work with moving objects, since they had the robot walking into the sunlight(partly atleast) but skipped to another position before i was able to see the effect.

-when the robot puts the camera away it stands in a shadowy area, where the shadow seems to be a increased compared to before.

I honestly wonder how this engine would handle a graphical challenge, like unreal engine 4 with the infiltrator demo.

this one:

May the light have your back and your ISO low.

Remember people: Game engine does not always 100% = graphics quality.

I know Titanfall is not quite on Crysis 3 level, but that game was made on the Source engine, and the engine is how old? Exactly. This is more of just a marketing move like every studio is doing now.

Console kiddies: "Look!!11 Ubisoft has a new engine called Snowdrop! Now they can make mah Xbone graphixx luk more realistic than PC!"

PC overlords: "That's cute. We have games running on CryEngine's full potential, like Star Citizen."

Those to types of people get into arguments and they have no idea how to write code for games.

The engine doesn't always matter.

(forgot to multi quote)

yeah, that is the aspect most people forget, with the right models, shaders, textures and settings you can get photorealistic things with every game engine and 3d render engine.

Is that in real time or pre-rendered?

Also,it looks like they're using baking, which is totally normal after all.

If what they said was true, then it's in real-time

I don't wanna know how many gigabytes of 3d models and textures that little demo uses. It just look amazing. If I wouldn't have known that it was completely rendered, I'm not sure wether I would even have noticed it.

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming CPU: i5-4570 RAM: 2x4gb Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600Mhz Motherboard: ASRock Z87 Extreme3 PSU: EVGA GS 650 CPU cooler: Be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 Case: Define R5 Storage: Crucial MX100 512GB

Impressive but oh wait...

Throw a couple thousands particles, effects/players battlefield 4 style at it and it will poop .1 fps on quad titan-z setups.

Theres nothing impressive here, its almost a 100% static environment, you barely got a small robot doing slow fine animations, and tons of lens flare and blur.

If the goal was a short computer generated film theres already pro tools and raytraced stuff that beats this easily, but for a real time game motor it doesnt show anything, its just freakin high detailed objects, nothing that couldnt be done before, the current day problems lie elsewhere.

Ubisoft-like nutheads not wanting to optimize for PC,im sure even with our current machines there's lots of power to still tap in with proper optimizations.
