Trying to make a bootable usb from Windows 7 OEM disc

I recommend you use Rufus to put the ISO on the USB drive. It will format the drive correctly and can get around some of the issues that Windows USB Tool hits:

Im trying to make a usb install thing from my OEM Windows 7 disc and I got as far as getting Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to format and install the ISO onto the drive but I get this error "Files copied successfully. However, we were unable to run bootsect to make the USB device bootable." I checked out the link to online help but that just tells you to download the bootsect from your purchases and I don't have any purchases from them. Anyone know how to get past this is its possible?

I used BurnAware to make the ISO.

yes, as long as you have the same version. ie you have home premium 64bit, get the home premium 64bit iso

I tried downloading the ISO from the link and then used the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download tool to put it onto the USB drive and got the same error about the bootsect not being able to run.

That sounds like an issue with your USB drive rather than the ISO. What brand is your USB drive, because I have heard people in the past have problems where some drives can't be made bootable due to firmware issues. If you have another (brand of) drive to use, try that and it should work.

THIS. RUFUS can make it bootable first, then it will copy the files over.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
