i5-4690k with Corsair Dominator Platinum 2x4gb DDR3-2133

Go to solution Solved by Excon,

Okay. Is the clock speed at all reduced.

Nope just set XMP profile

Doing this build, but I ran into a slight compatibility issue. Apparently the 4690k can only handle memory that takes 1.5v with 5% extra or less. The Corsair Dominator ram runs at 1.75v.

Pc part picker says that this will work, but that the clock speeds of the ram will be less, or that I may risk damage to the cpu. Thoughts?

I have my ram OC'd and I am @ 1.65v as well.
You can't be serious.  Hyperthreading is a market joke?

I cant for the life of me understand why gamers buy expensive ram....

No it isn't, the only people that should be buying expensive ram is content creators, CAD users, people working with massive databases, and servers.

Gamers should just buy the cheapest g. skill kit that will clock up to what they want if they are over clocking.

Over clocking a cpu is also something i don't understand why gamers want to do.
