Budget LGA 1150 CPU

Looking for a good unlocked budget CPU for the LGA 1150 socket that will eventually be switched out for a broadwell chip.  Thanks ^_^

Can the Refresh i3s be overclocked?

Just wondering...

No, but they'll be more useful than a dual core cpu...

They ARE dual core cpu...

Not much more useful in gaming; and not useful at all when g3258 is overclocked beyond 4.5ghz.

Hyperthreading helps in ALL applications, including gaming. Spreading a load more evenly will give you better performance even against a higher clocked dual core cpu.

You don't say...

It's not much more useful in gaming. What performance advantage it gets over the pentium g3258 in multithreaded games is certainly not worth the 64%+ price increase.

The point of pentium g3258 is to beat all the low budget amd cpu in gaming performance.

For the purpose of placeholder for future broadwell cpu; i3 can't get close to g3258.

Siege of shanghai 64player at 4.2ghz on a G3258 gets an average of 66 fps (16ms between frametimes) On medium preset with a 750ti. lowest is 47 fps. So If it can run that then it can run pretty much anything.

I know you want to post LMGTFY links but CoC says no. damn CoC.
