AMD Lover

So what was Linus talking about with his window AC unit and water cooling. Wanting to keep my computer cooler than regular watercooling can.

 

 

Or maybe do a wall mounted rad.

Wouldn't suggest using an AC unit for cooling as you will run into condensation issues.

You can cannibalise a car fridge, they aren't as powerful as A/C but will still keep your computer cooler.

Well he ran his through an AC coil in a box or something idk, But if I'm gonna do a big external rad would u put it inside or out? ( The House )

Outside (in the shade) will generally get you the best temps (assuming your house isn't actively cooled) however you have to be mindful of the dew point because if your indoor and outdoor temperatures differ too much you will start to get condensation (temperature deltas are dependant on humidity levels), you can insulate to protect from condensation but that's a lot more work then just setting up a water cooler ;) the are also programs you can run to load your computer if the temp drops too low but that isn't particularly power friendly and will only work if the temperature difference doesn't get too large so unless your willing to put in the extra effort or live in a fairly climate neutral area inside can save a lot of hassle.

Same goes for AC, whether you are just blowing the AC through a radiator or doing chilled liquid cooling you have to be mindful of the dew point.

i know this is an old post but.. im looking into a similar idea.. did linus do a video of this? id like to find it.
