What To Buy Next?

Go to solution Solved by dizmo,

I'd probably go with something along these lines. I picked black and yellow for the build color since it's not something you see often and that'd be a nice change.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($241.98 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($104.99 @ Micro Center)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 MPOWER ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($169.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: GeIL EVO CORSA Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($159.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 840 Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  (Purchased For $0.00)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive  (Purchased For $0.00)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Green 3TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive  (Purchased For $0.00)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon R9 290 4GB Tri-X Video Card  ($410.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Series Primo Aluminum ATX Full Tower Case  ($239.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($146.81 @ Newegg)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($89.98 @ OutletPC)
Monitor: AOC q2963Pm 60Hz 29.0" Monitor  (Purchased For $0.00)
Keyboard: Corsair Vengeance K95 Wired Gaming Keyboard  (Purchased For $0.00)
Mouse: Logitech G700s Wireless Laser Mouse  (Purchased For $0.00)
Total: $1564.71

A lot easier to save for, and you get similar performance. You get the case you originally wanted as well.

Honestly, with that monitor you're not running at much higher than regular 1080p. I'd just go with one card. If you can afford the extra $120, it might be worth going with the X, but the cards overclock very well so the standard 290 should suit you just fine. You can always add a second one later down the line if you find you need a performance boost. Remember, you only need to hit 60fps.

It's the US PCPP because I was too lazy to change it and that's where I generally buy my parts.

So here is the build I'm planning to do. http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/9sZkHx . I bought yesterday the monitor. I have around 420 Bucks to spend for the next item. I don't want to buy the CPU, MOBO, GPU or RAM because I'm only 16, and I earn money very slowly.. I know this is a huge project for someone in my condition but I really want to do it. I don't want to buy any of the four parts mentionned before since by the time I finish my build, the 900 series gpu, newer motherboards (although I WILL get MSI MPower), Broadwell and DDR4 ram will all be out. So these are just there to have an approximation of  the price. I don't want to spend everything that I have since I'm going to pay back my dad since he actually bought the monitor and I have to give him 70 bucks per month on 6 months. So What's the next part? Thanks!

You don't have $7000.

Do not spend money you do not have.

There is no reason a 16 year old needs a $7000 PC when you don't even have a job.

And when buying a PC, you should buy all the parts at once, not over extended periods of time.

There are sooo many things wrong here it's ridiculous....

1) There is no need to spend $260 on a motherboard, when a $130 board will do the EXACT same thing.

2) M.2 ssds aren't really any faster than sata3 ones at the moment.

3) a 1300w psu is WAY overkill for two gpus...hell, its enough for 4.

4) $400 on fans is absurd...

5) $2400 for a custom loop....what

You seriously need to get your priorities in order. A $2000 computer will perform virtually the same, and even that is probably overkill for your needs.

Oy...if you're paying off $70 a month, it's going to take you almost 8 years to build this computer. How do you plan to manage that?
Anyway, on to the build..

What's the purpose of the m.2 drive, as well as the SSD? I'd just pick one. The SSD.
Why did you buy two of the Greens? And why on earth were they that much money.
I'd go for a 1000w one if you're actually going to SLI.
So many fans! Why?

This whatr I initally planned to do but I didn't have the money besides this is my friend's rig specs (I was a bit envious that's why I wrote these specs). My actual rig is Asus 7850, P8H77V-LE for the motherboard, the cpu was a gift from my dad, it's the 3770k, still using stock cooler, case HAF 932 (DUST MAGNET) 4 gb hyperX ram The Optical drive is the one listed on pcpartpicker same as everything that I acquired and is marked as purchased.

I know I'm a shitty kid, but I saved  up a lot of time to be able to buy these components. I know you all have a negative idea about who I am, but what the heck, I always wanted to be part of those who said Yeah I have 770 or a 780 ti. So now I am really focused on a rig, something that I really want to build and I need help since I'm not a pro. Thanks.

We're in no way saying you're a shitty person, just that what you've decided upon probably isn't the best choice for the money. You can get an equally good system for loads less.

At your age, there are other things you should be saving and spending on. We're giving advice, not bashing you as a person. Sometimes we just come off rather abrasively.

@migeo It's better to have fans pulling air. pull and push is a lot harder to clean you have to unscrew one side of the rad everytime to blow dust out.

Than what should I do, considering that I'll be gaming a lot but I SOMETIMES do some video editting and I often photoshop. What Should I have in my system? And BTW, the only reason I went with the Mpower was for the black and yellow color theme. I love these two colors together :S And what about the color theme then, ram is red, mobo is blue and black.

But a very important aspect is the color scheme I like yellow and black, but also the common red-black or even green(razer-like)-black. And is it too much to go with the phanteks enthoo primo? I just LOVE this chassis. For me it's the ultimate case. Either way, I think for my needs the enthoo pro is much better (although the luxe would be nice).

For the GPU, saw some bemchmarks on the r9 290 and frankly I was impressed, it performs much better than I excpected. Besides, it's cheaper than an equal-performing gpu from NVidia.

Either way I finished and did this system. Until now everything is black except the mobo that has some blue. I was wondering if I could paint the blue parts of the mobo in a different color as well as some parts like the memory. Thanks!

I'd probably go with something along these lines. I picked black and yellow for the build color since it's not something you see often and that'd be a nice change.
